Favorite Christmas Song?

What's your favorite Christmas song? And I'm talking old school songs. Yes, we all love the N'SYNC and Mariah Christmas specials BUT I'm talking about the songs you learn in grade school. Classic music. MTV Tr3s likes to keep it old skool! :) This blogger's favorite would have to be the 12 Days of Christmas. Mostly because it impresses people that you actually know the entire song...people don't like memorizing other people's Christmas presents I guess.

Green Ranger

Everyone knew about his right?!?!

From Sport's Illustrated
The former action star from the hit series "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" has officially made the move to mixed martial arts, and while training with UFC lightweight Melvin Guillard, he hopes to make his real fighting experience as successful as he did on television.

Frank signed on with Suckerpunch Entertainment recently and hopes to make his professional debut in the very near future.

"I was supposed to fight in 2007, but it fell through. In truth, I've wanted to put the work in until I'm ready," Frank said in an interview from the Suckerpunch website. "I know I have a target on my back. Everyone is going to want to beat up the Green Ranger. But I am no Kimbo; I've been training for a very long time. I wanted to get in there before, but I got injured. But I'll be ready when the time comes."

Good for him. At least we know he's working. I recently saw the black ranger on a Bank of America commercial...so good for both of them! Oh by the way, you read correctly. The tattoo on his left forearm DOES say Jesus Didn't Tap.

Dating

Dating. Scary? Fun? Exciting? Anxiety? These are just some of the words people express when they talk about dating. My thoughts? Dating should be fun. A person you just met should not have this sort of power over you. Take charge of your life. Be confident in who you are. Don't pretend to be someone you're not, that's just recipe for disaster. Why hide your true self when you are dating. Should you not show the person who you may potentially end up with for the rest of your life who you really are instead of playing a charade until 1 year deep into the relationship you have no idea who your significant other really is?? Think about it.

This coming from a married young lass, I can tell you that my husband saw my completely intoxicated within a week of knowing each other and I made a complete fool of myself. I told him I really liked him, I was loud, and I fell in a huge puddle of water/mud in the middle of the street. Four years later we are married and happier than ever. So my dating advice ... show your worst and the best will follow. :)

Old Skool

No matter how much time passes I just can't get enough of this jam. Such a classic!! Lookout weekend!!

Cruel and Unusual?

Think our prison system in California is cruel and unusual? Many inmates and their lawyers seem to think so. Check out the article: California's Prisons

What do you think? Yes prisons are overcrowded and somebody somehwere is benefiting from that. Do we all agree that prisons are over-crowded? California only hosts less than 5 % of the world's population but we have 25% of the world's prisoners. That can't be right! There has got to be a reason behind this. Do the streets feel safer? Do we have the right people in prison? Is the 3-strikes law really working? These are questions we have to ask ourselves. Now, true, it's hard to stand up for prisoners but they are people too. Some are good people gone a bad path ... others are indeed bad people BUT they are all in one big prison together. This explains prison violence and death. If we think about it, it is highly cruel to do that to the few that don't really deserve it.

Hathaway and Franco to Host Oscars!

Anne Hathaway and James Franco have been selected to host the Oscars, which will air February 27! I for one am excited. I love these two actors and I think they will make a dynamic duo! There is, of course, some controversy. They are both expected to receive an Oscar nod Best Actress/Actor. Hathaway for her outstanding performance in "Love and Other Drugs" and Franco for "127 Hours." I for one do not see the problem. Hosts are hosts, nods are nods - can't we all just get along? It's obvious the Oscar heads just want a young and lively audience, hence the immensely popular picks for hosts. I mean what girl doesn't love the cutie pie Franco? And Hathaway is just an adorable and lovable face. Both stars have hosted SNL and have shown that they shine when it comes to comedy. I'm ready for some good times come February 27!!

Watch What You Tweet!

Arrested because of Twitter?? That's right, you better be careful what you say on Twitter! There are two cases now of men who made what they claim to be sarcastic jokes, but has been taken as threats.
Click Here! to check out the article on Yahoo!

What do you all think? I think it's a little ridiculous, but then again when are threats serious? You can't just send a threatening email to someone (or back in the old days write a threat letter) and not be charged ... is this different? Are we going to have to censor what we write on the web? I believe so...the world is progressing into a new digital age and up  until now the digital world was chaotic. Slowlly but surely the government (and advertisers) are figuring out how to manipulate it. The real question is, is THAT good or bad?

Why So Serious?

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner/post/Steve-Johnson-celebrates-TD-with-a-Joker-quote-o?urn=nfl-287840

Alright football fans, here's one for you!

If you didn't watch the Bills vs. Bengals game I'm sure you heard about Steve Johnson's costly shirt decor..."Why So Serious?" Johnson was the self-proclaimed Joker in response to Ochocinco and T.O.'s Batman and Robin proclamation.

Am I the only one that thinks the penalties on these players are getting ridiculous? Half the fun of the game is celebrating! I know soccer wouldn't be the same without GOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLAZZOOO-AZZOOO-AZZOOO !!!
Where is the money the player's pay in fines going to anyway? It all sounds like a scheme for the NFL to make more money. I for one miss the obnoxious victory dances. I think they are completely justified and show that players still have fun. People are way too serious about sports nowadays ... it literally is just a game.

California ... why so dirty?

Dirtiest Cities in the Country

This is the link to the Yahoo! News article which explained Prop 23 and gave a list of the country's dirtiest cities. Shockingly 7 out of the 10 on the list were from California. Even more shocking ... LA was #2 !! The number one dirtiest (in relation to smog and the ozone layer) was Bakersfield. Why? Now cars do leave a big carbon footprint, as do boats that port into the LA/Long Beach area (our nation's busiest port), BUT let us not forget farming and animals cause a lot of waste as well. This in combination with the oh so many truckers that blow through this city everyday on Highway 5 .. well let's just say it's a dirty combination.

What can we do? Well Cali, I don't know about you but I would like to consider our state green and clean! Let's recycle, re-use! Carpool to work, bike, walk, let's all do a little something to keep our state beautiful. Sure many people think Global Warming is a myth ... myth or not our planet does suffer from the junk that we put into it. Let's be considerate of all the other life the resides on earth :)

Guess Who Has Got a Reality Show

That's right ladies and gents, SARAH PALIN has got her own reality show, though she claims it is not a reality show. Well that's for damn sure - NO reality shows are actual reality shows. In my book, I don't call being on a set and bad acting reality.

Palin's new show is called Sarah Palin's Alaska and premiered on TLC on Sunday. The show seems to be a hit with almost 5 million tuning in, the highest rated debut TLC seen has seen thus far. Though the show keeps the political remarks at a minimum (for now?) some things do get slipped in - like the 14ft. wall her husband built around their fence to keep their neighbor from spying on them (he's journalist Joe McGinniss who is writing a book about her) which Palin compared to the fence on our borders to keep it secure.

Best of luck to TLC and Palin ... but let me tell you who WON'T be tuning in anytime soon ....

EMAs!!

So I'm sure we all loved the EMAs last night! This year the MTV EMAs were hosted in Independence Square in Madrid, Spain. It was hosted by Eva Longoria with perfomances by Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, Kayne West, Ke$ha, Kid Rock, Linkin Park, Rihanna and  Shakira! Talk about an awesome lineup!

Now I know we all love the musical performances, but my favorite part of any award show are the skits! I think my favorite is this one of Eva Longoria rapping! It's hilarious, love it!

Love Hate Relationship

Anyone else have a love hate relationship with the gym? When I'm at the gym, I'm in the zone. I put my headphones on (awesome music is a must when working out!) and am just hard at work for an hour! I feel so good after working out! Yah, sometimes I get sore, but I like that feeling ... makes me feel like I got something accomplished. My mood, appetite, and just overall health is better when I'm constantly working out. Not to mention the fact that it keeps me looking slim!

So what's to hate? The actual act of going to the gym! If you're like me you have to plan ahead- bring a gym bag to work, make sure all your stuff is in it. And then sometimes you forgot socks, or shoes and it ruins your routine!! Picking my lazy self up from my couch to go to the gym is another daily struggle. I'd rather be watching MTV Tr3s (haha). I also hate when the gym is crowded and full of those annoying people who go to the gym looking cute and spend half the time flirting and looking at themselves in the mirror ... get a life.

The best way to get over the slump is to find a gym buddy. I don't like letting people down, so when I know someone is counting on me to be at the gym with them, I'm there! You don't have to necessarily workout with them (I personally like to workout alone at the gym ... unless I'm doing a class!) but just having someone there to keep you motivated is always good! I personally cannot not go to the gym ... I love food way too much to give it up!!

Elections

Are you like me and feel that the elections are hyped up and the results are not? Think about it, we sit here and get bombarded with tons of commercials and debates prior to elections. We have protestors making noise and rallying, yet when the actual results are in where is the hooplah? It's just slightly odd isn't it? Just thought I'd leave you with that to ponder!

On a lighter note our altar pictures are up from Old Town! Check them out !! www.facebook.com/mtv3sd

This Weather!

I know everyone has been talking about it, but it's times like these when I just absolutely LOVE living in San Diego. It's November and we have HOT weather! Love it! Everyone should get there swimsuits on and head to the beach. Don't complain about weird weather patterns and enjoy what mother nature has blessed us with. Don't you all remember the "summer." It pains me to even call it summer. Enjoy the sweet sunshine while it lasts :)

Enjoy your day!!

Sesame Street

So I don't know how many of you out there heard about the hair self-esteem Sesame Street video. It sends out a great message for not just young black girls, but girls in general. We should all be happy with ourselves and the beauty that we were born with :). That being said, this is the Roc Nation take on the Sesame Street video ... I've got to say it's amazing! haha

Latinos in Cinema

We here at MTV Tr3s like to give shoutouts to all of our Latinos in the arts!! Today I'd like to talk about a particular film with a good message. The film is Bella. It stars the hottie Eduardo Verastegui (sporting a huge beard). Here is the storyline courtesy of imdb.com.

An international soccer star is on his way to sign a multi-million dollar contract when a series of events unfold that bring his career to an abrupt end. A beautiful waitress [Tammy Blanchard], struggling to make it in New York City, discovers something about herself that she's unprepared for. In one irreversible moment, their lives are turned upside down... until a simple gesture of kindness brings them both together, turning an ordinary day to an unforgettable experience.

I personally remember Verastegui as the bad boy on the telenovela "Soñadoras." Yes, that was about 10 years ago ... if you remember that more power to you!!

I've been a Shakira fan for a while now. Although I admire her growing with the music industry and reinventing herself, I do miss the brunette, rocker Shakira. Here are a couple of videos to satisfy mine (and maybe yours) craving for the old (ironically young) Shaki!

Too soon???

Everyone seems to be talking about how Katy Perry got cut from Sesame Street after singing "Hot N Cold" with Elmo. Personally after checking out the video I think there was nothing wrong with the video even from a mothers perspective kids dont have dirty thoughts unless you bring them up so if they were to see this video they would have just seen Katy and Elmo playing tag while a catchy tune plays in the background. Why does everything have to be about something having a bad message towards the person watching. In case you havent seen the video here it is and let us know wat u think!

Coastal Cleanup!!

San Diego and Baja are teaming up to cleanup the beaches!!! Be a part and help out the beautiful community you live in. There are many different sites to volunteer at tomorrow morning 9a-12p. So, stop being lazy and do something to better the ecosystem!! You can signup online or just show up at the locations! Some locations already have plenty of volunteers so help out some of the others!! Check it all out online and remember to print out and sign the waiver before you go!

MTV TR3S Helps Out

Hello there fellow bloggers!! We here at MTV TR3S SD love doing events. We love it even more when we are able to help out a good cause. Sat. Sept 25's event will take place at Frida's Restaurant/Lounge in the Otay Ranch Town Center. In this event we are donating the $5 door cover to help out the children in Tijuana. La Hacienda de la Inmaculada is a children's home designated for domestic child-abuse victims. The home needs help to fund expanding their home. They currently don't have enough room to house the 100 children that live there. They are asking for donations to build four more rooms so that each child can have a comfortable place to sleep! The money will also go towards tuition, uniforms, medicine, doctors, psychologists and other miscellaneous things children need. If you want more info on the charity check out their website and donate if you can!

San Diego Burgers

Perhaps I'm terribly hungry right now, but I've got to say San Diego has some of the best burgers I've ever had. My top favorite three I will post. It's hard to say which one I like more - it depends on my mood I guess. Nonetheless, if you're a burger lover any one of these establishments will please all 10,000 of your tastebuds.

 http://www.hodadies.com/

Think you won't need the 100 napkins they give you when you order your food? Think again. These burgers are delicious, savory and most of all MESSY. You got a pretty good selection at Hodad's, but my personal fave is the bacon cheeseburger, and if you're a meat lover make it a double!! And don't even get me started on the fries...I mean WEDGES! I couldn't ask for more (maybe onion rings?) Be careful those with big appetites - the burgers are larger than they appear! They fill you up, but never let you down :)

Hodad's Burgers is located on 5010 Neport Ave in Ocean Beach. A new downtown location is coming soon!!

Now what makes these burgers so delicious is how they are cooked. They use the best of meats and cook them so they are just a little pink, mmm mmm mmm. Now they will cook them well done if that's what the customer pleases BUT they will suggest to you to have them just a little rare, it's the way they were meant to be!! Besides the perfection on the grill, Crazee Burger offers an array of different types of burgers and meats! You want to try a gator burger (pictured)?! Where else but here! Not a meat lover? They offer a veggie burger with portabella mushrooms, delish. My personal favorite is the Hamburger Francaise, it has melted brie cheese - I love brie! This place will have a burger for every taste, go during happy hour and get a brew to wash it all down!! Don't forget to order a side of crazee fries, one order can be shared between two!!

Crazee Burger is located on 2415 San Diego Ave. in North Park. Both Crazee Burger and Hodad's have been featured on Food Network's "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives".

Now I'm a lover of food, all different kinds. You can imagine my excitement when I accidently stumbled across this tiny burger joint on my way out of Hillcrest. The place is tiny set up like an old diner almost. I was there midweek and it was about 8pm and the place was still pretty busy. As I darted my eyes at the menu I saw the words "burger" and "gyro" and noticed that they could go on the same plate. I definitely needed to try that. I ordered an 8oz steakburger with cheese and gyro. Of course I got the fries on the side (which were seasoned with a little cayenne pepper maybe ... regardless it was flavorful!). Let me just tell you when I bit into this marvelous burger my mouth almost couldn't handle the deliciousness that was happening. Gyro and burger, what a beautiful marriage between delish sandwich meats.

Canada Steak Burger is located on 3604 University Ave. in Normal Heights. All of these business are locally owned. Support your fellow San Diegans by visiting self-owned restaurants and shops!

Simply Put

Sometimes its as simple as this. My only suggestion: add an arrow from "change something" to "are you happy?"
Don't get stuck in a rut and have a wonderful day! :D

Cancion del Dia

Enrique Iglesia featuring Pitbull- I Like It

So I've never been a huge Enrique Iglesias fan, but I have some happy memories with this song and i'll admit the man is pretty damn cute! ;)

Check out the Jersey Shore version of the vid, its pretty redic!
Personally I think I prefer his song with Juan Luis Guerra (Cuando Me Enamoro). I love JLG! What do you think? Who does it better? :P

Me gusta la original but I can't get enough de la de Bunburry
Que Voz!

On another note: Como gran fan de The Doors, siempre e pensado que no se parece mucho a Jim Morrison? :P

Social Networks!

Who doesn’t love social networks!!!

Whether is Myspace, Facebook, Twitter, Youtube or Blogs!!! [we can keep on and on forever]

We know the internet is taking over the world!!!

What do you guys think of the new movie coming out October 1 about Facebook [The Social Network]?!? Its based on the founder of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg and his struggle founding the social network.

To me it’s interesting how much a social network can influence a person’s life in today’s society and others just use that to their advantage. We should all be super careful what you put on the web because,
It Never Goes Away!!!
Check out this video with some of the latest facts esta que No Manches!!!

Welcome to the new era!!!

For those unaware, Latin Rock Icon, Cerati, suffered a stroke while on tour in May. Although conditions have improved since the day of the stroke, the singer remains in a coma.
We wish him and his family the best!

Bring LA FAMILIA with you.....We will be waiting for you there!!!

Shaaark!!!... It's that time of the year, the leopards are here...

It's that lovely time of the year when hundreds of leopard sharks flock La Jolla Shores.

Although there are many reasons, nobody knows for certain why these awesome creatures gather so close to shore this time of year. These leopards swim right up to the shallow area, as you can see on the ppicture to the left. San Diego is one of the only places where you can swim freely among literally tons of leopard sharks.

Don't worry, these guys don't bite and are completely harmless to humans, in fact, they scurry away if you touch them or get too close.

This is truly an awesome chance to get up close and personal, so don't miss out! La Jolla Shores!

And the MOST played artist of the decade is...

Britney Spears? Beyonce? Jay-Z? Eminem?...

Nope, it's actually none other than - Tim McGraw. Yes, are you surprised to hear that? As much as Timmy's music might be very popular to the majority of today's youngish college age crowd, it must appeal to just about everybody else!

I must admit thant I don't consider myself a fan and cannot name one of his songs, but according to Neilson BDS, the service which keeps track of all songs played on the radio, tv, and internet - Tim McGraw had the most airplay of any artist, of any genre. He's managed to pile up 7,965,000 spins on the radio in the 00's.

Oh and by the way, he's also sold more than 40 million albums, had 30 number one hits, has 3 grammys, 24 country music related awards, and 10 American Music Awards.

So it appears those of us who were surprised to hear that, are the ones who are living a under a rock,... or maybe a large pebble.

If you were as surprised as I was, let me know who came to you rmind?...
P.S. The Beatles had the best selling album of the decade, Eminem was the best selling artist of the decade.

Tim McGraw - The most played artist of the decade.

...And on another note, . . . Amy reminds us why we love her

As if someone were attempting to nab her current title of hot mess, Miss Amy Whinehouse quickly spurred into action and let it be known that she is still the reigning queen in the kingdom of hot messdom, and nobody was going to interfere. This lovely photoshoot took place yesterday around 11:30 a.m. after a night of drinking and lollygagging which involved snogging with Mischa Barton and serenating Russel Brand's father. ...As we can see, it's safe to say she's still saying. "no noo nooo" when they try to make her go to rehab.

Chido!!

Don't mean to get political but...
I thought this was way cool and it relates to music ;)

Spotted: Lady Gaga rocking a "Pass the DREAM Act" T-shirt!

She refused to boycott Arizona along with other musical artists, arguing that it was their duty to not fail their fans but rather make their voice heard and actively protest:
"I will not cancel my show. I will hold you, and we will hold eachother, and we will protest this state. Do not be afraid because if it wasn't for all of you immigrants, this country wouldn't have s**t. And I mean it. I mean it so deeply in my soul.
Tonight we will continue to actively protest social and political injustices in Arizona. We will sing, we will stand up, +we will be heard."

Now the question is where can I get myself one of these!?!

PS: For those unware, the DREAM Act is a piece of legislation that would provide students who were brought to the US at a young age, an opportunity to become legal productive members of this country upon completing a college degree or serving in the military. Find out more here! :)
