San Diego Burgers

Perhaps I'm terribly hungry right now, but I've got to say San Diego has some of the best burgers I've ever had. My top favorite three I will post. It's hard to say which one I like more - it depends on my mood I guess. Nonetheless, if you're a burger lover any one of these establishments will please all 10,000 of your tastebuds.

Think you won't need the 100 napkins they give you when you order your food? Think again. These burgers are delicious, savory and most of all MESSY. You got a pretty good selection at Hodad's, but my personal fave is the bacon cheeseburger, and if you're a meat lover make it a double!! And don't even get me started on the fries...I mean WEDGES! I couldn't ask for more (maybe onion rings?) Be careful those with big appetites - the burgers are larger than they appear! They fill you up, but never let you down :)

Hodad's Burgers is located on 5010 Neport Ave in Ocean Beach. A new downtown location is coming soon!!

Now what makes these burgers so delicious is how they are cooked. They use the best of meats and cook them so they are just a little pink, mmm mmm mmm. Now they will cook them well done if that's what the customer pleases BUT they will suggest to you to have them just a little rare, it's the way they were meant to be!! Besides the perfection on the grill, Crazee Burger offers an array of different types of burgers and meats! You want to try a gator burger (pictured)?! Where else but here! Not a meat lover? They offer a veggie burger with portabella mushrooms, delish. My personal favorite is the Hamburger Francaise, it has melted brie cheese - I love brie! This place will have a burger for every taste, go during happy hour and get a brew to wash it all down!! Don't forget to order a side of crazee fries, one order can be shared between two!!

Crazee Burger is located on 2415 San Diego Ave. in North Park. Both Crazee Burger and Hodad's have been featured on Food Network's "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives".

Now I'm a lover of food, all different kinds. You can imagine my excitement when I accidently stumbled across this tiny burger joint on my way out of Hillcrest. The place is tiny set up like an old diner almost. I was there midweek and it was about 8pm and the place was still pretty busy. As I darted my eyes at the menu I saw the words "burger" and "gyro" and noticed that they could go on the same plate. I definitely needed to try that. I ordered an 8oz steakburger with cheese and gyro. Of course I got the fries on the side (which were seasoned with a little cayenne pepper maybe ... regardless it was flavorful!). Let me just tell you when I bit into this marvelous burger my mouth almost couldn't handle the deliciousness that was happening. Gyro and burger, what a beautiful marriage between delish sandwich meats.

Canada Steak Burger is located on 3604 University Ave. in Normal Heights. All of these business are locally owned. Support your fellow San Diegans by visiting self-owned restaurants and shops!
